Baseball Sweeps CCRI to Earn No. 2 Seed in Region 21 Tournament
The Massasoit baseball team captured both ends of a doubleheader at CCRI by scores of 15-11 and 12-2 on Saturday afternoon. The pair of victories gave the Warriors a series sweep of the Knights and locked the Warriors into the No. 2 seed in the Region 21 Tournament.

WARWICK, Rhode Island ---- The Massasoit baseball team captured both ends of a doubleheader at CCRI by scores of 15-11 and 12-2 on Saturday afternoon. The pair of victories gave the Warriors a series sweep of the Knights and locked the Warriors into the No. 2 seed in the Region 21 Tournament.
Massasoit will host Quinsigamond in the opening round of the Region 21 Tournament on Thursday at 3:30 PM.
The Massasoit offense exploded for 27 runs on 31 hits, including four homers to up its league record to 7-5 overall.
Bryce Evans and Eric McCallum each went 5-for-6 with a homer on the day. McCallum finished with 7 RBI, with five coming in the first game. Kyle Cummings and Nick Thibeault also launched homers. For McCallum and Cummings, the round trippers were the first of their careers.
Jadon Ricci went 5-for-7 with 5 RBI and three runs scored in the sweep.
On the mound, Franciso Navarro got the start in game one. Massasoit received a strong four innings of relief from David Lawrence to earn the save.
In game two, PJ Moniz spun a complete game with five strikeouts. The crafty lefty scattered nine hits and only allowed two earned runs in five innings of work.
