Four Massasoit Baseball Players Earn All-Region 21 Accolades
A total of four Massasoit student-athletes, Bryce Evans, Jadon Ricci, Frankie Manon and PJ Moniz were selected to the All-Region 21 Baseball teams announced by the conference office on Monday.
BROCKTON, Mass. ---- A total of four Massasoit student-athletes, Bryce Evans, Jadon Ricci, Frankie Manon and PJ Moniz were selected to the All-Region 21 Baseball teams announced by the conference office on Monday.
Evans earned a spot as the catcher on the first team all-region, while Ricci, Manon and Moniz all received second team accolades for their efforts during the 2022 season.
Evans hit an impressive .463, ranking 11th nationally in batting average and posted percentage of .511 on-base and .752 slugging, also among the NJCAA national leaders. In conference play, Evans was even better, posting a .641 batting average, .681 on-base percentage and 1.231 slugging percentage for the year. He led Massasoit in hits (56), runs (38), doubles (15), homers (4), extra-base hits (23), batting average, on-base percentage and slugging for the season.
Ricci manned shortstop for almost all of the 2022 season for the Warriors. The cleanup hitter recorded a .409 batting average along with .462 on-base and .600 slugging percentage. The Easton native recorded 47 hits, scored 32 runs, tallied 17 extra-base hits, including a team-best five triples and stole a team-high 20 bases.
Manon patrolled centerfield for the Warriors and finished third behind Evans and Ricci on the team in hits with 34. He ended the year with a .315/.437/.454 slash line, scoring 25 runs and tallying eight extra-base hits, including a pair of homers. He finished second on the team in stolen bases with nine.
Rounding out the quartet of all-region selections is left-handed pitcher PJ Moniz. The southpaw posted a team-best 4-1 record and 4.02 ERA for the season. He tossed 40.1 innings and struck out 26 batters to just six walks. Moniz walks per nine inning mark of 1.3 was also a team-best. The lefty topped the Warriors in appearances with 14 and won his last three starts during the regular season.
