Mike Ward Named NJCAA Men’s Basketball Division III National Player of the Week
Massasoit men’s basketball player Mike Ward was recently named NJCAA Division III Player of the Week for his efforts in leading the Warriors to a 3-0 record last week.
BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Massasoit men's basketball player Mike Ward was recently named NJCAA Division III Player of the Week for his efforts in leading the Warriors to a 3-0 record last week.
Ward was a force to be reckoned with down low for Massasoit, averaging 25.7 points per game and shooting 64.5 percent from the floor over a three-game span. The sophomore from Brockton also went 15 of 16 at the foul line (93.8 percent) and averaged 7.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists for the week.
Massasoit defeated Region 21 foes Roxbury CC, Gateway CC and Holyoke CC to improve the Warriors to 11-5 overall for the season.
Ward scored 27 points to start the week against Roxbury, then followed that up with a 32-point showing at Gateway, 22 coming in the second half. He finished off the week with 18 points in a win over Holyoke.
His 77 points over three games upped his season average to 23.1 per game, leading all of Region 21.
Massasoit plays at Northern Essex on Thursday at 6 PM.
