BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's basketball team overcame a double-digit halftime deficit thanks to 17 second-half points from Alex Morrison to earn a 62-60 come-from-behind victory vs Quinsigamond on Monday night.
The win propels the Warriors to 7-10 overall on the season, 7-9 in Region 21 play and a sweep of the season series with Wyverns. Massasoit defeated Quinsigamond in Worcester 62-48 back on November 18.
Massasoit trailed Quinsigamond 27-17 at the half before outscoring the Wyverns 45-33 in the second stanza.
Morrison scored all 17 of his points in the second half, draining a career-high five 3-pointers. The freshman has now made multiple 3-pointers in seven of the last eight contests.
Amari Andrew-Brown continued his scoring spree, pouring in a game-best 28 points in the victory. With his 28-point performance, Andrew-Brown surpassed the 400-point plateau for the season. It marked the first Massasoit men's basketball student-athlete to reach that mark since Bobby Belezos (447) and Mark Georges (436) each did it during the 2018-19 season.
Massasoit closes out the regular season hosting Northern Essex on Thursday before playing at Bristol on Saturday. Massasoit is vying for one of eight slots in the Region 21 Tournament, set to begin on Wednesday, February 23rd.
