BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Anya Welch-Batstone (Avon) netted five first half goals as the Massasoit women's soccer team blasted its way past Bristol Community College, 12-1, on Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Field.
Welch-Batstone's career-high five goals bring her season total to 21 for her freshman season as the Warriors improved to 8-4-1 overall and a perfect 8-1 in conference play.
Betty Blake of Whitman added a hat trick, Samantha Baston of Carver scored twice while Karen Snow (Irving, NY) and Katie Amado (Whitman) each netted their first career goals for the Warriors.
Massasoit led 9-0 at intermission.
Amanda Sesock of Whitman added a trio of assists, while Blake and Dineida Gomes (Brockton) each dished out two helpers a piece in the victory.
The Warriors finished with 31 shots, 16 coming on frame for the contest.
Massasoit rounds out the regular season with an all-important game at Springfield Tech on Thursday slated for 3:30 PM. With a victory, Massasoit would secure the No. 1 seed for the NJCAA Region 21 Division III Tournament hosted by Holyoke Community College on Saturday and Sunday. With a loss or tie, the Warriors would earn the No. 2 seed, with HCC earning the top seed for the tourney.
